Strawberry Granita

Ingredients

  • 400 gms – 2 cups strawberries washed and hulled
  • 500 ml – 2 cups water
  • 120 gms – 1 cup + 5 tsp sugar
  • 30 ml – 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • Whipped cream to serve

Instructions

  1. Mix the cold water with the sugar and heat on the fire until the sugar dissolves.  Chill.
  2. Blend the strawberries with the lemon juice. Sieve and mix with the sugar syrup.
  3. Churn in the ice cream maker for 20 to 30 minutes, until the granita reaches a sorbet like consistency.
  4. Serve immediately with some whipped cream.
