Garrapiñada de Mani

Garrapiñada de Mani – a delicious Latin American snack made by cooking and caramelising raw peanuts with sugar and a hint of vanilla.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup raw peanuts skin on
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup water
  • ¾ tsp vanillina powder or vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a pan, put together the raw peanuts, sugar, and water.
  2. Cook on a medium flame for about 8 minutes, continuously stirring.
  3. Stir in the vanillina/vanilla and mix well.
  4. After caramelising, the sugar will crystalise. Once it coats the peanuts, the garrapiñada is ready.
  5. Pour onto a tray lined with baking paper, spread it, and let it cool down/harden.
  6. Enjoy!
