Rose del Deserto – Desert Roses

  • 250 gms – 2 cups flour
  • 100 gms – ½ cup sugar
  • 125 gms – ½ cup butter melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 100 gms – 3.5 oz. pinenuts
  • 100 gms – 3.5 oz. chocolate chips
  • 1.5 – 2 tsp baking powder
  • Corn flakes
  • Icing sugar


  1. Put the flour, sugar, melted butter, baking powder and eggs in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment and mix well until it all comes together.
  2. Add the pine nuts and chocolate chips and mix on very low for a few seconds, just to incorporate them into the dough.
  3. Make patties the size of a small lime and roll them in the corn flakes. Put them on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
  4. Bake them in a pre heated oven at 180°C – 355°F for 15 minutes.
  5. When ready, let them cool down and then dust with icing sugar.
  6. Serve at room temperature.
