Mulberry Jam Recipe

This Mulberry Jam recipe uses just three ingredients to create a thick, glossy, spoonable jam made with fresh or frozen mulberries all year round.

Course: Jam
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Author: Manuela Zangara

Ingredients

  • 350 g – 2½ cups mulberries – cleaned
  • 300 g – 1½ cups sugar
  • ½ tbsp juice of lemon

Instructions

  1. Mix the mulberries, lemon juice, and sugar in a large pot. Cook over medium heat, stirring gently, until the sugar dissolves.

  2. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce to a steady simmer and cook for about 20-30 minutes, stirring regularly, until it thickens.

  3. While the jam is cooking, put a small plate in the freezer.
  4. After about 20 minutes, when the jam looks like it’s beginning to gel, turn off the heat.
  5. Put a small amount of jam on the frozen plate and return it to the freezer for a few minutes.

Note: If it wrinkles when you nudge it, it’s ready. If not, cook it a little longer and test again until it’s ready.

  6. Store the jam in sterilised jars.

Recipe Notes

If you prefer, blend the jam with a hand blender before storing it in sterilised jars.
