Starting out for free
When I first started Manu’s Menu, I did not know much about blogging. I wasn’t even sure of what I wanted to do with my blog or whether it would reach beyond my network of friends and family. So, I started out with a free account on Blogger.
If you don’t want to pay for hosting or you are just starting out, you can consider WordPress and Blogger for free accounts, but be aware that you may not be able to run ads on your site or you may have other limitations, so do your maths and decide wisely.
Self-hosted WordPress
In a matter of a couple of weeks though, it already became evident that I wanted it to be something more and I started to do a lot more research. The first thing that I realised was that having my own domain was the best way to look like “I meant business”. Besides, having your own domain always helps in terms of SEO. I also found out that the self-hosted WordPress platform was the easiest and more customisable blogging platform available and that’s why I chose it.
You can literally build a professional looking site in a few clicks by using the many templates available!
WordPress is used by many sites and the best part is that there are many plugins available to customise your site without having to know any coding. The greatest part of this is that many of these plugins are free!
