If you don’t want to pay for hosting or you are just starting out, you can consider WordPress and Blogger for free accounts, but be aware that you may not be able to run ads on your site or you may have other limitations, so do your maths and decide wisely.
In a matter of a couple of weeks though, it already became evident that I wanted it to be something more and I started to do a lot more research. The first thing that I realised was that having my own domain was the best way to look like “I meant business”. Besides, having your own domain always helps in terms of SEO. I also found out that the self-hosted WordPress platform was the easiest and more customisable blogging platform available and that’s why I chose it.
