EatNow Review

I was recently asked to review a food ordering website called EatNow and I happily accepted as I find the concept behind it to be very interesting.  You all know I love cooking, but as a foodie, I also love to eat out and try different restaurants.  Unfortunately, having young children, we don’t get to go out for dinner as often as we’d like to.  So, ordering take away food from a restaurant and having it delivered to your door can be extremely convenient, especially on a busy (and cold!) day.

Mind you, I am not talking about “cheap take away” kind of food.  I am talking about restaurant quality food.  And all you have to do is order it online through EatNow.  The service is completely free and you just pay the cost of your meal (plus delivery, when applicable).  The best part is that there are many restaurants and cuisines that you can choose from.

But it’s not over… they also have a mobile app (the links are on the homepage)… so you could order your dinner while on the train back home!  Wouldn’t it be great to get home to a restaurant cooked meal?

App

So, how does it work?

How it works

You simply register and log into EatNow, choose your suburb and browse through all the restaurants that deliver to your area.  Each restaurant has a short description, opening hours, customer reviews and all the info you need to place your order.  You can “pre-order” your food before the restaurant’s opening hours, and the restaurant will get your order as soon as it opens.

Restaurants ex

Once you have decided on the restaurant, you can browse through their menu and choose what you want to eat.  You can decide whether (and when) you want the food delivered or if you’d rather collect it.

Order 1

Then you pay via credit card, paypal or cash on delivery.  Simple.

Once the order has been placed, you will get an email confirmation with all the details and a text confirmation as well.  And you are done, the food is on its way!

We ordered Indian food from Thousand Spices, one of those places I have been wanting to try for ages and never got around to.

The food arrived in time, at 7 pm just as requested!

We had four Chaats as appetisers:  Palak Patta Chaat ($ 8.90), Aloo Tikki ($ 7.90), Papdi Chaat ($ 6.90) and Channa Bhatura ($ 9.90).  Both the Channa Bhatura and Aloo Tikki were very good and well balanced in flavour, slightly tangy and spicy, just the way we like them.  The Palak Patta Chaat was ok, nice and crispy, but a bit too tangy, while the Papdi Chaat was not that great and a bit soggy, as the papdi were too thin.  I will have to try this dish again at the restaurant, but I would not order it as a take away again.

As mains, we had Lamb Korma ($ 14.90) and Butter Chicken $ 14.90 with Steamed Basmati Rice ($ 2.50).  These were good, the Butter Chicken was perfect, while the Korma was a bit more spicy than we expected, but we did not mind.  The steamed rice was very good, well cooked and with separated grains.

Mains (1 of 1)

We also ordered some Mango Lassi ($ 3.00) which was good, and Falooda ($ 7.00).  I am sure everyone knows what Lassi is, but if you are not familiar with Falooda, it is a drink/dessert made with arrowroot noodles,  ice cream, rose flavoured milk and nuts.  My husband loves it and he was quite satisfied with it.

Drinks (1 of 1)

We also had some Gulab Jamun ($ 6.00) which were spot on.  Soft, moist and syrupy.

All together it was a nice family dinner with good quality food.

I was quite happy with EatNow.  It was easy to use and it took about 5 minutes to order our dinner.  I also like the idea of not having to rely on take-away menus that get delivered to our mail box, as I always misplace them and I can never find them when I need them!  Having many of the local restaurants listed on the same webpage makes your life easier.  And the list of restaurants available keeps growing, so make sure to check it out regularly!

So tell me, have you ever used this kind of service?

I have used Eat Now a couple of times. It is a great idea and it saved me quite some time. It was easy to get my Chinese food fix! 😉

After sharing the scrambled eggs and tomato toast After sharing the scrambled eggs and tomato toast recently, I thought it would be a good time to highlight one of my favourite herb blends 🌿

Herbes de Provence is a traditional French herb blend usually made with herbs such as thyme, rosemary, oregano, and savoury.

It's a simple way to add extra flavour to everyday ingredients and works especially well with eggs, tomatoes, roasted vegetables, potatoes, chicken, and soups.

Have you used Herbes de Provence before?

Ever wondered why your iced matcha tastes differen Ever wondered why your iced matcha tastes different every time?

It’s not just about the ingredients. Small details like the quality of the matcha, how you sift it, and how you whisk it can completely change the result.

Even the texture and colour can tell you a lot before you even take a sip.

Once you start paying attention to these steps, it becomes much easier to get a smoother, more balanced matcha at home 🍵
