Today I want to share with you the recipe for one of my favourite drinks: Strawberry Daiquiri. I love the sweet and sourish taste given by the combination of strawberries and citrus juice. I also love rum… I must admit it is my favourite liquor! There are many different recipes for Strawberry Daiquiri out there and the majority of them are blended cocktails. I have nothing against them, but the end result tastes much more like an adult slushie than a cocktail to me. I prefer my Strawberry Daiquiri to be much more similar to the classic Daiquiri, so instead of blending all the ingredients with the ice, I use a shaker (or a big glass) to mix the ingredients and then I strain the cocktail in my glass. It is much easier than what it sounds and I can guarantee you the result is delicious! And don’t you just love the colour?? October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. So, I thought there couldn’t be a better moment to post this drink: pink for the cause! Let’s all cheer for all the women who are fighting against this horrible illness and let them know they are not alone! Together we can make a difference!
Strawberry Daiquiri
How to make a delicious Strawberry Daiquiri - the "strained kind".
Ingredients
- 60 ml - 2 oz. white rum
- 15 ml - 0.5 oz. lime juice
- 15 ml - 0.5 oz. lemon juice
- 100 gms - 3.5 oz. strawberries washed and hulled
- 3 tsp caster sugar or to taste
- Ice
Instructions
-
Rim a Martini glass with sugar by dipping it first in some lemon juice and then in some granulated sugar. Keep it aside.
-
Fill a big glass with ice and pour the strawberry daiquiri over the ice. Mix well for about 10 seconds and strain the cooled daiquiri in a Martini glass rimmed with sugar. Decorate with half a strawberry and serve immediately.
Recipe Notes
If you have a shaker, fill it with ice up to ¾, add the daiquiri and shake for 8 to 10 seconds. Strain it and serve.
Try and fill the glass a tad less than me… so your sugar rim will remain white!

Aww Manu I used to drink strawberry daiquiris when I arrived in the US. Often virgin as I got a very low tolerance for alcohol. I get a bit woozy easy! What a great cause!
