PHILADELPHIA #FridgeShelfies

June 10, 2014 Last updated on June 10, 2014 By Manu 8 Comments

#FridgeShelfies

I am very excited today, as I am partnering with Philadelphia Australia for a very special event: PHILADELPHIA #FridgeShelfies.  Doesn’t that sound like fun?  With all the selfies going around in social media, why not take a “selfie” of the inside of your fridge for a chance to win a trip for two to Melbourne and a  $1,000 shopping spree at Salt&Pepper Home?  Now, that sounds even more exciting, doesn’t it?  Read on for all the details.

I love Philadelphia cream cheese products and I usually have them in my fridge, because they are so versatile.  You can easily whip up a delicious savoury dish or a fancy dessert with their creamy goodness.  The possibilities are endless.  My youngest daughter loves her “creamy cheesey” sandwiches for school and she now wants them every day.  I am happy to oblige, knowing that Philly has 60% less fat than butter or margarine and is made with local Australian milk.

#FridgeShelfies

That’s why I am very excited to be a part of Philadelphia’s #FridgeShelfies, a campaign that also has the support of Celebrity cook and former MasterChef Australia contestant Hayden Quinn.  Many people usually stick to a few known and tested recipes when it comes to prepare their meals, sometimes for lack of time, sometimes for lack of inspiration.  This campaign wants to inspire Aussies to get more creative in the kitchen, with new and exciting recipes developed using the ingredients already in their fridges.

So, how does it work?  All you have to do is simply take a picture of the contents of your fridge (make sure the ingredients are visible) and upload it to the Philly Australia’s Facebook page, or tag @PhillyAus on Instagram.  In both cases, remember to also use the hashtag #FridgeShelfies.

Shelfie example

Philly will then provide you with a recipe, based on the ingredients that appear in your photo.  Every Friday, between the 2nd of June and the 20th of June, Hayden Quinn will cook something based on his favourite #FridgeShelfies entry.   But that’s not all: the best #FridgeShelfies entry will win a trip for two to Melbourne and a $1,000 shopping spree at Salt&Pepper Home!

shelfie instructions

I love the idea!  So, here I am… ready to participate too!
This is the photo I am submitting for #FridgeShelfies.

#FridgeShelfies

As you can see, all my ingredients are clearly visible in it.  You can check out my entry on the Philly Australia’s Facebook page too!  Remember the hashtag #FridgeShelfies, whether you are uploading your photo on Facebook or Instagram!

Now I can’t wait to get my “personalised” recipe from the Philly team!  Stay tuned, as I will surely make it and report back! 🙂

#FridgeShelfies

So, what are you waiting for?  Do Your Thing and participate!  Be adventurous in the kitchen for your chance to win!

I’m afraid I’ve have to give my fridge a good clean out before I’d consider exposing it’s inners to the world, but yours is looking good!

After sharing the scrambled eggs and tomato toast After sharing the scrambled eggs and tomato toast recently, I thought it would be a good time to highlight one of my favourite herb blends 🌿

Herbes de Provence is a traditional French herb blend usually made with herbs such as thyme, rosemary, oregano, and savoury.

It's a simple way to add extra flavour to everyday ingredients and works especially well with eggs, tomatoes, roasted vegetables, potatoes, chicken, and soups.

Have you used Herbes de Provence before?

Ever wondered why your iced matcha tastes differen Ever wondered why your iced matcha tastes different every time?

It’s not just about the ingredients. Small details like the quality of the matcha, how you sift it, and how you whisk it can completely change the result.

Even the texture and colour can tell you a lot before you even take a sip.

Once you start paying attention to these steps, it becomes much easier to get a smoother, more balanced matcha at home 🍵
