I am very excited about today’s post… as it is all about coffee and Italy. If you follow me on Facebook, you would have seen that I posted a special message for Manu’s Menu a few days ago. Yep, the Lavazza barista contacted me to help him spread the word about the Lavazza #FromItalywithPassion campaign. I am really happy about this partnership, as Lavazza is the coffee brand I regularly use at home! Lavazza has launched the new Minù machine in Australia and to celebrate the launch, they are organising a fun competition. Read on for your chance to win your own Lavazza Minù machine and even a trip to Italy!
Despite being very happy and loving Australia deeply, I do miss my home country. Many of you who have decided to call this beautiful land home know the feeling. If not you, you will have parents, grand parents, friends who migrated here and still feel nostalgic when talking about the place where they were born.
Italians have a tendency to belittle their country and often complain about the things that don’t work as they should, but when you look at it from afar… we have it all. Breathtaking natural surroundings, amazing monuments, a millennial culture and some of the most delicious food in the whole world. I can easily understand how many people long to visit my beautiful country.
Italy is quite small (very small if compared to Australia), yet in such a small area you can find a variety of landscapes that will leave you speechless: from the snowy Alps, to the turquoise Mediterranean sea, to the green Tuscan hills, to amazing medieval towns and cosmopolitan cities. Everywhere you go, you can feel, and often see, centuries of history. This diversity is deeply engraved in all Italians and we are very attached to our roots and the place where we were born. Each region has its traditions, dialect, culture and… food. I always stress the importance of regional food and how there is no Italian cuisine, but more of a mix of regional cuisines. I guess that is why Italians (and that includes yours truly!) are so passionate about their food: it touches our identity, our souls. So, no messing around with it! I’ve warned you! 😉 And at the end of the day, this same passion for my roots and my home country is what is behind Manu’s Menu and what inspires me everyday.
One of the things Italians are very passionate about is coffee. I know people who cannot live without their espresso and struggle when they are on holiday. You will always find someone complaining about how the espresso they got at the local cafe, was not a “real espresso”. Fear not, now you too can make your own real espresso at home. And it’s quick and as easy as pressing a button, thanks to the new Lavazza Minù machine, now available in Australia! The best part is that you can easily decide how short (or long) you want your espresso to be, so no more complaining! Besides making amazing coffee, the Minù machine looks slick and modern. It is compact, so it doesn’t take up much of your precious bench-top space and it is practically maintenance free. No coffee powder or beans to deal with, just capsules. Clean, simple and hassle free. You can’t ask for more.
Oh, and the Lavazza capsules! There is a huge variety of strengths and flavours to choose from, including decaf and long!
And besides drinking it, you can also use espresso to make delicious recipes like Tiramisù or Coffee Jello.
But no more beating around the bush, as I am sure you want to know how to win one of these amazing machines and the trip for two to Italy! The competition is split into 5 phases that correspond with the Lavazza Barista’s journey in the campaign video. All you have to do is visit www.FromItalyWithPassion.com.au. Each week the barista will launch a challenge from a different Italian city on his way to Australia. Watch the video episodes, complete the challenge and immediately see if you are the lucky winner of a Minù coffee machine. At the end of the competition, you will have the chance to win a trip for 2 to Italy!
These are the competition timings:
- Phase 1: Turin – 26.11 – 1.12 (Watch the video and Complete the Quiz for a chance to instantly win a Minù coffee machine)
- Phase 2: Rome – 2.12 – 7.12 (Watch the video and Complete the Poll for a chance to instantly win a Minù coffee machine)
- Phase 3: Naples – 8.12 – 13.12 (Watch the video and Register for a chance to instantly win a Minù coffee machine)

- Phase 5: Australia – 18.12 – 21.12 (Watch the video and Pin your location. All entries, including previous ones from Phase 1 to 4, will be elegible to participate in the Final Draw to win a trip for 2 to Italy)
Also, note that you can play once per day during the first 3 phases (get those entries in so you have more chances of winning) and only once each for phase 4 and 5.
I, for one, cannot wait for the barista to reach Australia… so stay tuned!
Isn’t this exciting? So, what are you waiting for? Visit www.FromItalyWithPassion.com.au and start playing! And if you are the lucky winner of the trip to Italy, make sure to come back here and tell us everything about it! Good luck… buona fortuna!

I had some of this coffee at Coles in Norton Street and it is by far the best I have ever had. Everyone who enjoys coffee should have one of these machines at home. They are easy to operate and make fantastic coffee.
