Do you know that sauce that looks like hummus whenever you order a kebab at your favourite kiosk? Well, that’s tahini sauce… or tarator sauce. I love its intense and tangy flavour and I always order it with my kebab! I also found out it is pretty easy to make at home and it has become our new favourite dip and sandwich sauce. Try and have some with home-made whole meal pita bread, shawarma sandwiches or kebabs and you will thank me!!!
Recipe adapted from About.com Middle Eastern Food
Ingredients:
1 cup tahini
3/4 cup lemon juice
2 tablespoons water
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 dash of cumin powder
Combine all the ingredients in a bowl.
Serve immediately, or store in the refrigerator for up to a week in an airtight container.
This sauce makes a fantastic dip and it is the perfect sauce for shawarma sandwiches or kebabs.

I had no idea it was so easy, or that I could use tahini for anything else than hummus. Will have to buy some tahini then!
