I love everything chocolate… and what’s better than a chocolate mousse to celebrate Valentine’s Day with the one you love? This is a lighter version than the traditional chocolate mousse because it does not require cream: I just use egg whites to make it fluffy. I usually make this mousse with rum, but this time I decided to give it a little twist and I used Grand Marnier and it came out really well. Oranges and chocolate… a couple made in heaven… just perfect for Valentine’s Day. I served it with Lingue di Gatto biscuits and Candied Orange Zests.
Ingredients for 2 – 3 persons:
125 gms of dark chocolate
2 eggs
40 gms of sugar
1 standard shot of orange liqueur
2 tbsp of milk
Melt the chocolate either in the microwave or in a bain-marie and let it cool down slightly.
Whisk the egg yolks and the sugar with an electric mixer until pale.
Add the melted chocolate, orange liqueur and milk and mix well till combined.
Beat the egg whites until stiff with an electric mixer.
Gently incorporate it into the chocolate mixture using a lifting and rolling motion, so that the mousse remains fluffy.
Put the mousse in 2 serving glasses and refrigerate it for at least 2 hours before serving.
Just before serving, decorate with Candied Orange Zests and Lingue di Gatto biscuits.

This is a lovely dessert. The combination of dark chocolate and orange liqueur is a classic. I especially like your accompaniments – the candied orange peel and the Lingue di Gatto.
