A quick snack like this is perfect when you have a sweet tooth but still want something simple and easy to prepare with ingredients already in the pantry.

These Peanut Butter Nutella Banana Bites are made with fresh bananas, creamy peanut butter, Nutella, honey, and toasted almond slices. It’s a delicious healthy treat with a banana, peanut butter, and Nutella combo that still feels fruit-based.

You can adjust the toppings to your taste. I haven’t included exact amounts next to each item for this reason. Add a little more peanut butter, a little less Nutella, or extra almonds, depending on what you like.

I often make this kind of snack with ingredients already sitting in my pantry. There’s no need for a special trip to the shops.

It’s also a fun recipe to prepare with children, especially if you want to get them involved in the kitchen. Enjoy!

Why Kids Love These Banana Bites

  • Ripe bananas create a naturally sweet base and give the snack a treat-like feel without a long ingredient list.
  • Pantry ingredients make the recipe practical when you want something sweet without a special trip to the shops.
  • Bite-sized pieces are easier for children to handle than a whole banana covered with toppings.

Key Ingredients for Peanut Butter Nutella Banana Bites

Bananas

Bananas give each bite a soft texture and natural sweetness. Choose ripe but firm bananas with yellow skins and a few small speckles, as very soft bananas can break apart once sliced.

Creamy Peanut Butter

Creamy peanut butter adds richness and a light savoury balance to the sweet banana and Nutella. A smooth, well-stirred peanut butter is easier to drizzle or spread across the banana pieces.

Nutella

Nutella brings chocolate-hazelnut flavour and makes the snack feel more dessert-like. Use it lightly, as the banana and honey already give the bites plenty of sweetness.

Honey

Adds gloss, sweetness, and a light sticky layer that helps the toppings sit neatly on the banana. Use a mild honey if you don’t want it to take over the banana, peanut butter, and Nutella flavours.

Find the complete list with measurements in the recipe card below.

How to Make Peanut Butter Nutella Banana Bites

Step 1: Cut each banana in half lengthwise, then cut each half into 3 pieces. You should have 6 banana bites per banana.

Step 2: Drizzle peanut butter, Nutella, and honey over each banana bite.

Step 3: Sprinkle toasted almond slices on top and serve immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use crunchy peanut butter instead of creamy peanut butter?

Yes, crunchy peanut butter works if you want more texture. Creamy peanut butter is easier to drizzle and gives a smoother finish.

Can I leave out the honey?

Yes, you can leave out the honey if your bananas are very ripe or if you prefer a less sweet snack. Nutella already adds sweetness, and the peanut butter still gives the bites enough richness.

How can I keep the banana bites from turning brown?

Serve the banana bites soon after cutting for the best colour. If you need a little extra time, brush the banana pieces very lightly with lemon juice, but use only a small amount to avoid changing the flavour.

What other toppings can I use?

You can use chopped hazelnuts, mini chocolate chips, desiccated coconut, crushed pretzels, cinnamon, or a tiny pinch of flaky sea salt. Keep the toppings small and light to help them sit well on the banana pieces.

Can I use a different kind of nut butter?

Yes, you can use your favourite nut butter, such as almond butter, cashew butter, or sunflower seed butter, instead of peanut butter. Choose a smooth one if you want it to drizzle easily over the banana pieces.

Extra Help from the Kitchen

Use a Flat Serving Plate – Arrange the banana pieces on a flat plate before adding the toppings to keep them stable while you drizzle.

Stir the Spreads First – Mix the peanut butter and Nutella in their jars before using them to make the texture smoother and easier to drizzle.

Use a Spoon for Control – Scoop small amounts of peanut butter and Nutella with a spoon to avoid covering the banana pieces too heavily.

Leave Space Between the Bites – Place the banana pieces slightly apart before adding the toppings to keep the drizzles from running together.

Serve with Small Forks or Toothpicks – Offer small forks or toothpicks if serving children or guests, as the toppings can make the banana pieces sticky.

Variations and Twists

Drizzle with Chocolate – Use a little melted chocolate, such as milk chocolate, dark chocolate, or white chocolate, in place of part of the Nutella for a firmer chocolate finish after a short chill.

Make Banana Sandwiches – Spread peanut butter and Nutella over half of the banana slices, then top with the remaining slices to make banana sandwiches. Melt chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl, dip each one, let the excess chocolate drip off, and place on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet to set.

Finish with Flaky Sea Salt – Add a tiny pinch of flaky sea salt as an extra topping after the honey and almonds to balance the sweetness.

Layer with Strawberry Slices – Place thin strawberry slices over the banana pieces before adding the peanut butter and Nutella for a fruitier bite.

Sprinkle Toasted Coconut – Scatter toasted coconut flakes over the banana bites along with the almonds for extra texture and a light tropical flavour.

Storage and Shelf Life

Store Peanut Butter Nutella Banana Bites in an airtight container in the fridge if you have leftovers, and eat them within a few hours for the best colour and texture.

Serve the bites soon after assembly if you plan to keep them out, as sliced bananas darken and soften quickly.

Freezing isn’t recommended for the finished bites because bananas lose their firm texture once thawed, and the toppings won’t hold as well. If you place plain banana slices in the freezer, you can use them later for smoothies or other blended drinks instead of this snack.
