After making home-made yogurt, I was left with quite a bit of whey and no ideas on what to do with it! Luckily, I asked my friend Sawsan from Chef in Disguise and she gave me the perfect recipe: Ayran. Ayran is a savoury yogurt and whey drink commonly found in the Middle East. I had never had it before, so I was double intrigued and tried it straight away! It was delicious. It reminded me of the savoury Indian lassi (which is made without whey though), so if you are into lassi, you should definitely try this drink out. It is very refreshing, perfect for a hot summer day. Come back tomorrow for another delicious idea on what to do with your left-over whey!
Recipe adapted from Chef in Disguise
250 ml – 1 cup Greek yogurt (click here for the recipe)
750 ml – 3 cups whey
Salt to taste
Blend the yogurt, whey and salt in a food processor until well combined.
