As a child, my favourite breakfast drink would always be cold milk with chocolate/cocoa powder in it. But it had to be cold… or nothing. My favourite treat would be anything with Nutella, and, you guessed it, my favourite nut has always been hazelnut. So, when I saw this Chocolate Hazelnut Milk, I could not resist and just had to make it.
I have already made Sicilian Almond Milk at home, but I had never tried anything similar with hazelnuts. Well… it tastes amazing. Like liquid Nutella!
I obviously love it cold from the fridge. I also love the fact that it is dairy-free and vegan. It is a tasty alternative to regular chocolate milk. Because everyone deserves a treat.
It is also very easy and quick to make, you just need to remember to start the process one day beforehand, as the hazelnuts are best soaked overnight. Scroll down for the video!

Chocolate Hazelnut Milk
Ingredients
- 275 gms – 2 cups hazelnuts without skin and toasted
- 4 cups filtered water
- 3 pitted dates
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
Instructions
-
Place cooled hazelnuts in a jar. Pour in enough cool water to submerge the nuts. Cover and let sit overnight.
-
Drain and rinse the hazelnuts. Place in a blender. Add filtered water, pitted dates, and cacao powder. Blend until the nuts have been ground.
-
Filter the mixture using a nut bag, or cheesecloth set over a mesh strainer. Discard the hazelnut pulp, or save it to use later.
-
Pour the cacao hazelnut milk into an airtight container and keep chilled in the fridge for up to three days.
Recipe Notes
Shake well before servings, as the mixture will separate as it sits.
